NAPPING REDUCES STRESS AT WORKPLACES

NAPPING REDUCES STRESS AT WORKPLACES

A Medical Doctor at the Holy Family Hospital Nkawkaw in the Eastern region, Dr. Bernard Nii Torgbo in an interview on Adom news is encouraging all employers to allow their employees to take a nap break for about 30mins during working hours to help reduce stress.

According to recent research, napping can help refresh the mind and release stress while providing you with more energy to focus on work. In Ghana people who take the risk of napping will be considered lazy even when its quite clear that the person in question looks tired and nobody will replace you if you should take a nap break. Dr. said that the labor law in the country requires that nap breaks must be considered after working continuously for 12 hours.
Speaking to some workers in Accra most of them couldn't agree more than to be given  30minutes nap break at work, for an entire day. They said that such breaks will help  improve creativity and increase productivity although others disagreed saying if they are given nap break, they will possibly not return back to their work.

Soobolo spoke to a labor consultant to find out more about napping at work....

Mr. Boakye Amponsah Yiadom who is a labor consultant , says the workplace is not the most convenient atmosphere  to take naps, although most people might disagree strongly naps can be taken during lunch break where bosses wont find you in the act. He concluded saying that personally he doesn't support nap breaks at work.
