Domestic air flights in Ghana are no more in business due to poor visibility in the
harmattan atmosphere; the harmattan makes it difficult for pilots to land at various domestic airports located across the country.

In an interview with Ghana Civil Aviation Authority’s Cooperate Communications Manager Mr. Eric Amaning who spoke to on Dwaso Nsem this morning, he said that the atmosphere isn’t safe for flight use especially the domestic ones which land in

the northern parts of Ghana. He explained the atmosphere must be visible enough for pilots to take off, fly and land travelers. He said that over looking safety flight precautions will result in plane crash and other occupational hazards.

Mr. Eric Amaning says that Tamale, Kumasi and Sunyani flights won’t be able to fly until the atmosphere is clear enough and safe to travel, but international flights will operate because Accra is visible enough for its pilots.
Still digressing on this issue Mr. Eric Amaning stressed that although star bow airline was able to fly to Takoradi safely it couldn’t land in sunyani when it flew there, so it had to return to Accra. He explained to travelers that harmattan is a natural phenomenon so till it wears off for better visibility in the atmosphere , domestic flights won’t be taking off for now.
