CHRISTMAS AND LIVESTOCK PURCHASE – JAMES TOWN

CHRISTMAS AND LIVESTOCK PURCHASE – JAMES TOWN

Still in the festive season soobolo speaks to sellers of livestock in Accra to find out how business was this festive season, we spoke to Chairman of livestock Mr. Seidu Sakode at old light house in James town.
According to, Mr. Sakode the selling of livestock which includes Goat, Sheep, and Cow etc has come to a standstill this time around, he explained that the Ghanaian economy is quite tight and the cost o rearing livestock has become expensive which scares some buyers from the attempt to buy livestock. He said that sales were low as compared to last year.

We engaged conversation with livestock sellers to tell us how sales were so far at James town. The sellers told us that the police are their main worry most times as they extort money from them every time they have to convey livestock from Burkina Faso to Accra. They said that people do come around to purchase livestock at their own price ignoring the original price for livestock.
