EOCO arrests 4 ISD staff over GH¢142k fraud

Four staff of the Information Services Department (ISD) have been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) over alleged illegal withdrawal from the department’s accounts.

The four include the immediate past Director, Noel Actorn Tetteh, who is on bail and allegedly authorized the withdrawal without the authorization of the new Director, Francis Arthur, Accra-based Joy FM is reporting.

Others are the Director of Budget, Director of Finance and Administration and a staff who are still in the grips of EOCO.

According to the report, the suspects signed cheques amounting to Gh¢ 142, 000 from the department’s coffers without authorization to settle staff allowances.

The new director Arthur detected the anomaly when he took over and invited the EOCO to investigate the withdrawals during the transition period.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Communications Minister Ato Sarpong has said the four have been asked to repay the withdrawn money into the department’s account.
