Police commends Organised Labour for peaceful demo

The Accra Regional Police Command has thanked the leadership of Organised Labour for their level of comportment and corporation during their demonstration over hikes in taxes, levies and utility tariffs.
A statement signed and released in Accra moments after the demonstration by the Accra Regional Police Commander, COP/Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, said the exercise was conducted in a peaceful manner.
“The event which was attended by over three thousand-five hundred (3,500) protesters begun at the Obra Spot and ended at the Black Star Square peacefully”.
“Although a full assessment and evaluation of the entire exercise has just begun, the Police can say that, the demonstration was well organized and conducted within the tenet of public order management”, the statement in part read.
While showering praises on the leadership of Organised Labour, COP Dampare urged future event organizers to work with the Regional Police Command to ensure utmost maintenance of law and order, especially, during the election year and beyond.
