HAIR RELAXERS CAUSES LEUKEMIA AND BALDNESS-DOCTOR WARNS
A Dermatologist has warned that continuous use of chemical
relaxers causes hazardous effects to women health including baldness and
leukemia.
Dr Michael Cudjoe of the Rabito clinic disclosed that some of
the relaxers which are not approved are composed of harsh chemicals which are
not friendly to the scalp.
According to him, constant application causes cracks to the
scalp which makes way for the chemicals to sip into the blood stream leading to leukemia.
He added that another common effect of harsh relaxers is baldness
scientifically termed alopecia. The chemicals cause gradual loss of hair over a long period of time.
Dr. Cudjoe advised that the effects can be reduced if the use
of the relaxers is reduced. He emphasized that hair relaxers are not to be used on the scalp but hair.
His advise was that hair stylist etc should research more to better assist their client that continuously apply relaxers every time they visit the salon during the week.
Meanwhile, some women have admitted that the relaxers have scandalous effects on their hair, as most said that it breaks their hair and gives the scalp burnt, headaches and pains around the scalp.
