Wa Poly teachers declare strike

Wa Poly teachers declare strike

Teachers at the Wa Polytechnic have declared a strike.

They are demanding the exit of the Chairman of the Polytechnics’ Council.

The teachers are accusing Professor Jacob Sangsore of refusing to implement a decision of the council to instate one Dr. Baba Issah as substantive rector of the Polytechnic.

The area President of the Polytechnic Teaches Association of Ghana Caesar Anadem told Starr News their strike is to force management of the school to act properly.

“We are striking against some unilateral decisions that are being taken by the council chairman which is not allowing the institution to run well. We have been trying to work things out but it appears the chairman is resolute in his actions and we can no longer watch on for things to be done anyhow.

“He should have known that the community would react to the things he is doing," he said.

But the chairman Sangsore told Starr News in an interview the accusations by the teachers are baseless.
