Opoku Ware Vodafone Icons contestants suspended from school over gay allegations

According to reports, three students of the Opoku Ware Senior High School have been suspended indefinitely for allegedly indulging in homosexuality. According to StarrFMonline, the alleged gay students were among those who represented the school in last year’s Vodafone Icons  High Schools Edition.

The three boys, were suspended after a disciplinary committee established they were homosexuals, following a ‘caught-in-the-act’ report made against them by their colleagues. But one of the suspended students in an interview with Starr FM’s Ashanti regional correspondent Isaac Bediako Justice said they are being wrongly punished.

A teacher also told Starr News that the indefinite suspension of the students was unjust.

“I am deeply worried because these are adolescents who have a future and if as teachers or educationists, we are unable to help them to their aspirations and we look at…mere allegations from students and dismiss boys who have a bright future to live and tell some of the impact that some of us have had on them, then I am very worried”.
