VGMAs board doesn’t have any right to ban Shatta Wale, do they finance his songs?
Manager and executive producer for Joyce Blessing and S.P.
Kofi Sarpong has waded into the Charterhouse-Shatta Wale brouhaha. According to
him, Charterhouse doesn’t have any right to ban Shatta Wale and that the awards
is not a family venture and that the awards it’s for Ghanaians.
Speaking on Hitz Fm, when asked about his views on the
developing matter where it’s been rumoured that Charterhouse is banning Shatta
Wale for a maximum of 3 years, he said, “Is it Charterhouse who finance Shatta
Wale to produce his songs? Charterhouse cannot ban any artiste here in Ghana,
they don’t have any right, is the awards scheme an association that they have
codes governing the award? He asked.
The award-winning manager went on to say, “Ghana Music
awards is a celebration of Ghanaian music, it’s for the public, Ghana music
awards is not a family venture, it’s for the state. Why should Shatta Wale
having problems with Iyiola Ayoade or any member of the board got to do with
banning of Shatta Wale? Shatta Wale should be nominated for the awards, they
shouldn’t ban him at all, they don’t have any right to ban him”. He ended.
The 17th Edition of the VGMAs is slated for May
7, 2016.
